We are Character! Initiative
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of the We are Character! programinitiative is to
instill and promote the importance of caring, citizenship, fairness,
respect, responsibility and trustworthiness within our students via the
district-wide institutionalization of behaviors, policies and practices
that model and or reflects the following pillars of character:
- Trustworthiness
- Respect
- Responsibility
- Fairness
- Caring
- Citizenship
Mission Statement:
The mission of We are Character! is to contribute to the
development of safe and secure learning environments that are conducive
to increase student academic achievement and that facilitate effective
and efficient teacher instruction. Our mission is to accomplish the
following objectives at Cantua Elementary School, Helm Elementary
School, San Joaquin Elementary School, Rio Del Rey High School,
Tranquillity Elementary School and Tranquillity High School within a
four-year program implementation period:
- Decrease expulsion rates by 75% and suspension rates by 50%.
- Decrease bullying.
- Decrease fighting and the use of profanity.
- Increase API scores by a minimum of 50 points.
- Increase student attendance, engagement and participation in school activities, events and or functions.
